NEWS AND UPDATES

A Message from the founder:

2022 was a year of exploration and growth. After working for the Department of Social Services and the Crisis Response Management Team, we have decided to expand our services into the Teen and Young Adult area. I personally have been a CASA volunteer (Court Appointed Special Advocate) and realized the lack of services kids are receiving. Teens and Young Adults are simply not receiving services. The Counties and States are simply inundated beyond their capacities. We at ASHA are filling in the gaps as resources permit. Therefore, in 2023 and beyond, we will provide services for this age range. As usual, we will continue with after-care support and all the other services we provide for the general population. We feel very strongly that this will be a Prevention/Intervention process. Services include Counseling, Mentoring, training in Peer Support, Tutoring, and general maneuvering within the Social Service system, advocating for the kids that get lost in this process. These kids, unfortunately, are prey to trafficking, substance abuse, and homelessness. I mean homelessness, as many of these kids have a bed to sleep in but not necessarily a home. A sense of home, a sense of belonging, equates to confidence. Confidence to truly live an amazing life. We are helping with this process.

Sincerely,

Winfield Tuttle
